Job Description
To ensure reliable operation, calibration, and maintenance of all instrumentation and control systems within the chemical plant. The role focuses on minimizing downtime, ensuring safety, optimizing process efficiency, and complying with industry standards.
Reports To: Instrumentation Lead
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of instrumentation equipment (sensors, transmitters, Analyzers, control valves, PLCs, DCS, SCADA systems, etc.).
Troubleshoot breakdowns in instrumentation and control systems to minimize plant downtime.
Maintain records of maintenance activities and prepare reports.
Conversant with Control Philosophy, Instrumentation Philosophy, P&ID and Hazardous Area classification.
After duty hours or operational issues will directly reports or coordinates with operational executive of plant
Conversant with Installation /commissioning / Maintenance of field instruments like LT, PT, DPT, MFM, FM Control Valve, On/OFF Valve, Load cell, FT, TT and Many more.
Conversant with Company Safety Policies / TBT / JSA / SOP / SMP / various Installation and calibration check list / preventive and corrective Maintenance etc
Conversant with installation and erection of Inst Hardware / Hot loop & cold Loop Checks / SAP PR / Routine Maintenance etc
Comply with the statutory norms / requirements / Company’s code of conducts
Perform regular calibration of instruments as per standard operating procedures.
Ensure accuracy of process measurements (pressure, flow, temperature, level, pH)
Regular Visit and daily checks of all Stack Analysers / DCS / PLC / Third party Packages
Project & Improvement Support
Assist in modification, installation, and commissioning of new instrumentation systems.
Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance plant reliability and efficiency.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure all instrumentation activities comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
Adhere to chemical industry standards (ISA, IEC, OSHA, ISO, etc.).
Knowledge regarding HAZOP, safety audits, and risk assessments.
Ensure all the permit compliance and PPE’s and safety compliance as per unit std.
Ensure proper Job safety analysis prior to execution
Maintain housekeeping in area of ownership & workplace and also ensure that contract workforce following his instructions for housekeeping
Understand work as per ERPC plan in case of emergency scenario and actively participate in training & mock-drill conducted
Documentation & Coordination
Maintain updated P&IDs, loop diagrams, calibration logs, and equipment manuals.
Coordinate with operations, electrical, and mechanical teams for maintenance activities and ensure better co-ordination within Team Members
Assign Respective Jobs between all Team Members and ensure smooth execution of Jobs with utmost safety and Quality
Carry out training and Toolbox Talk to Contractor team for safe work execution and with zero Breakdown
Follow up and expedite with vendors for spares, service, and technical support.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering ( AICTE/UGC approved )
5 – 8 years of experience in instrumentation maintenance (preferably in chemical, petrochemical, or process industry).
Strong knowledge of process instrumentation, control systems (DCS/PLC/SCADA), and field devices.
Hands-on experience in calibration, troubleshooting, and loop checking.
Familiarity with safety practices in chemical industries (hazardous areas, ATEX, SIL, etc.).
Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to plant emergencies.
